Women's lives and bodies are manipulated and exploited to entertain men and to make profit (pornography is a multi- million pound industry). The abuse of women and even children is even emphasised to intensify the pleasure of the viewer. In it's most extreme forms, women are shown in scenarios which portray them as enjoying physical maltreatment, mutilation, rape and gang rape.
Porn's portrayal of sexual behaviour degrades and demeans women in every way. The very act of reducing women to this state denies them their humanity and transmits dangerous messages to the viewer, not always in a subtle manner, that this is an object for your use. Women are portrayed as playthings for men, existing not as thinking human beings, but as a provocative image for men to use in whatever way they choose. Pornographic magazines show glossy pictures of anonymous women reduced to the status of objects for the pleasure and entertainment of men.
